A man has lost four family members after a fireworks warehouse exploded in Narathiwat.
Our previous story:
At least ten people have died, 118 people have been injured, and more than 200 families have suffered, many with their homes destroyed, after a fireworks warehouse exploded in the Su-Ngai Kolok district on late Saturday afternoon (July 29th).
Now, for our update:
Mr. Yossanai Bula told Thai media on July 31st with tears in his eyes, “I rushed home when I heard many loud explosions to find my home, my grandmother’s home, and my father’s home nearby were destroyed. Only my grandmother survived. I found that my father, my two cousins, and my aunt died from the explosion.”
“After I helped my grandmother, who was miraculously uninjured despite her home being completely destroyed, to a safe area, I helped three neighbors who were stuck inside their homes. I searched relatives’ homes nearby to find my eight-month-old cousin had been thrown by the blast of the explosion to the outside of the home where my cousin’s mother was also found dead inside the home,” Mr. Yossanai added.
“I am very shocked and sad about the incident. My father had warned the fireworks warehouse’s owner many times about the potential dangers with the factory and they argued many times. My father was worried that this incident would happen. The owner had also just added a new set of flammable items into the warehouse. My father might have not known because he said that if the owner still added more items, he would tell the police. What my father feared has happened and it cost him his life,” said Mr. Yossanai.
Legal charges are pending for the owners, notes The Phuket Express.
