Organizations Hold Activities Marking Queen Mother’s Birthday Anniversary


Numerous organizations in the public and private sectors held activities to mark Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother’s birthday anniversary on Saturday, August 12.

Khunying Saengduan Na Nakorn, President of the Foundation for the Family Welfare of The War Veterans (FFWV), participated in an event to present gift bags and cash to 73 veteran soldiers receiving treatment at the Veterans General Hospital in Bangkok. The soldiers had suffered injuries or were afflicted with disabilities in the line of duty. Khunying Saengduan was accompanied by FFWV board members and volunteers.

Meanwhile, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) held a water curtain performance at Benchasiri Park in Khlong Toei district in honor of Her Majesty the Queen Mother. The event is open to the public from August 12-31. Three rounds of daily water curtain performances are being held during this period – the first at 7:00 PM, the second at 8:00 PM and the third at 9:30 PM.

The BMA has been developing Benchasiri Park in collaboration with about 50 public and private sector agencies. The park encompasses 29 rai of space and was established 31 years ago. Water features heavily and fountains are major fixtures at this city center park.
