Third Son of Thailand’s King Visits Bangkok for First Time in Decades

Thailand –

The third son of His Royal Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn has visited Thailand for the first time in decades.

First, for context:

The second son of His Royal Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn has visited Thailand after 27 years.

Now, for our story:

Doctor Chakriwat Vivacharawongse, 40, well known to Thais as ‘Than Aong’ joined his elder brother Vacharaesorn Vivacharawongse ‘Than Aon’ in Bangkok on Sunday (August 13th).

Than Aong told Thai media, “My dream has come true. I have had a chance to pay respect to the statue of Prince Mahidol in person in Thailand. As I am now a doctor, I am inspired by him. I am following his will to pass the inspiration to other students to be good doctors.” Than Aong also paid respect to his grandfather’s statue, the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Than Aong is the founder of New Yor, the founder of Chakriwat Medical Information Center in New York.

Wassana Nanuam, a senior Thai media reporter, posted on her social media channels pictures and reported that this is the first time Than Aong and Than Aon were together in Thailand since they were children.

Both men have resided in the United States for decades and this trip is widely seen as one for reconciliation with their heritage and past, although both men have stressed it is a personal trip. The Royal Palace has not officially released a statement on the visits as of press time.
