Chiang Mai —
The Director of the Chiang Mai Airport welcomes tourists with 24-hour flights effective in November, 2023.
On October 3rd, 2023, Ronakorn Chlermsanyakorn, the Director of the Chiang Mai Airport, updated the public on extended open hours for Chiang Mai International Airport to 24-hour operations effective on November 1st, 2023. However, to associate with current tourism policies from the Thai government, Ronakorn is currently gathering information from relevant officials to apply for 24-hour operation temporarily to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT). CAAT will consider the details and issue an approval by the end of October 2023.
Meanwhile, Chiang Mai International Airport is preparing for its 24-hour operations permanently to CAAT. Although it will benefit tourism aspects by an increasing number of flights from the 24-hour operation, Chiang Mai Airport operators will take locals who live near the facility into consideration because of loud noises at night.
Ronakorn will discuss with airlines and relevant officials to schedule the flights appropriately.
“In the last quarter of this year, the high season in Thailand, there will be an increase in the number of international flights by 30% much of this due to a visa exemption program for Chinese and Kazakh Tourists that started on September 25th, 2023,” Ronakorn concluded.
