Thai Man Disguised as Monk Arrested After Thirteen Years of Being a Fugitive on Murder Charges

A monk in disguise on the run for 13 years was arrested in Suphan Buri Province for intentional murder.

On October 3rd, 2023, Pol. Col. Natthapong Kerdiam and a police squad captured a monk, only identified as Mr. Anon, 33-years-old, on an arrest warrant from the Amnat Charoen Provincial Court at Dhamma Retreat, Song Phi Nong District, Suphan Buri Province.

Mr. Anon was charged with several major offenses including alleged intentional murder. The incident occurred back in 2010 when he allegedly committed a murder with a sharp weapon and slit a victim’s throat in Mueang District, Amnat Charoen Province. The culprit had been fleeing in disguise as a monk on a regional pilgrimage for more than 13 years.
However, the investigative squad tailed and captured the culprit who lived in Dhamma retreat, Suphan Buri Province. On an initial investigation, Mr. Anon denied the accusations before being transferred to Muang Amnat Charoen Police Station for further legal proceedings.
