Security Measures Enhanced at Key Sites in Thailand

PRESS RELEASE:

BANGKOK (NNT) – The Royal Thai Police (RTP) has elevated security measures at checkpoints, border points, and communication outlets at significant locations across Thailand. This includes a stringent screening of foreign nationals arriving from high-risk areas.

RTP Commissioner-General Police General Torsak Sukwimol has directed a rigorous surveillance initiative at crucial sites, places of residence, and other relevant areas.

Enhanced border control measures, bolstered security, and expanded scrutiny during inspections are to be coordinated with local police units, Patrol Police, officers responding to the 191 hotline, the Crime Suppression Division, Peacekeeping Police, Tourist Police, and Immigration Police. The emphasis is on surveying vulnerable points, identifying potential risks, and developing contingency and emergency plans, including drills to ensure readiness.

Furthermore, the Tourist Police, in conjunction with local law enforcement, is to intensify its screening efforts to ensure the safety of tourists. The Immigration Bureau is tasked with reinforcing the inspection of incoming travelers, especially those from countries considered high-risk.

The public is encouraged to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information to the hotlines 191 and 1599, available 24/7.

The preceding is a press release from the Thai Government PR Department.
