National —

On October 10th, 2023, Thai highway police officers captured 3 alleged suspects and confiscated over 80 kilograms of methamphetamine on Highway 41 road in Chaiya, Surat Thani.

The 3 alleged suspects were later only identified as Mr. Pichet, 34-years-old, Mr. Yutthapong, 29-years-old, and Mr. Noppadon, 28-years-old.

Recently, Thai highway police officers also intercepted 4 other alleged drug smugglers with illicit substances, almost 2 million illegal pills, on the way to Songkhla province. An investigative squad further tracked down new drug trafficking from central Thailand to Songkhla which led to the successful arrest operation on October 10th.

During the investigation, the 3 suspects reportedly confessed their wrongdoings and said that for the second time they were hired for 100,000 baht to smuggle meth from Nonthaburi to Phatthalung with Songkhla as a final destination. The police officers then escorted them to the Mueang Chumphon Police Station for further legal proceedings.

The suspects did not disclose who they worked for but Thai highway police officers stated that they were continuing the active investigation.
