Head of Phetchabun Animal Quarantine Station Shot and Killed During Inspection

Mr. Sarawut Prachuang, the Head of the Phetchabun Animal Quarantine Station, was shot on duty while inspecting cold storage in a large warehouse on October 11th, 2023.

At 5:00 PM, on October 11th, 2023, the Ban Klang Police Station in Phetchabun received a murder report on a resident in Lom Sak, Phetchabun. There was 1 casualty and 1 injury. The injured victim, Mr. Phongpantha Srisuwan, an Animal Quarantine Officer, was shot 1 time on his side. Mr. Sarawut was fatally shot by a 9 MM pistol 5 times. They both were transferred to Lom Sak Hospital, however, Mr. Sarawut was later announced deceased of fatal wounds.

On the incident scene, a large warehouse was in development for residents, cold storage, and a slaughterhouse. The owner was Mr. Anusorn Donsawan, 57-years-old.
In the morning, Mr. Sarawut and Phongpantha were on duty to inspect this warehouse as they received an anonymous report from local residents that Mr. Anusorn imported his pork from an unknown location.

The officials asked Mr. Anusorn for a pork sample from the cold storage for examination. However, Mr. Anusorn refused the request and asked the officials to leave his premises.

Later in the afternoon, the officials came back but had a heated argument with Mr. Anusorn. Suddenly, Mr. Anusorn took out a firearm, aimed his weapon at both of the officers and shot Mr. Sarawut multiple times with a stray bullet also injuring Mr. Phongpantha.

Anusorn reportedly fled after the incident.

Relevant police officers will interrogate witnesses and perform a further investigation to find Mr Anusorn and the true cause.
