Overstaying Chinese Man Arrested in Chiang Mai for Allegedly Scamming Pattaya Residents

A Chinese national was arrested in Chiang Mai yesterday for overstaying more than 1,000 days and allegedly deceiving others into buying graphic cards used for cryptocurrency mining.

The suspect, identified by police as 38-year-old Chen Long, was arrested on October 11th at a condominium in the Fa Ham area of Mueang district, Chiang Mai province. He was accused of fraud and overstaying with a staggering duration of over 1,267 days.

According to the arresting police, Chen Long allegedly deceived many victims in Pattaya into buying computer graphic cards used for cryptocurrency mining. However, he failed to deliver the promised goods and went into hiding. The resulting financial loss was reported to be over three million baht.

The suspect had been evading authorities for over a year before his apprehension. As of now, he is going through legal proceedings and is slated for deportation from Thailand, stated the police.
