Phayao —

At 3:00 AM, on October 15th, 2023, the Phayao local media reported heavy rains caused a flash flood destroying a bridge and local vehicles with seven villagers missing in Dok Khamtai and Chiang Muan districts, Phayao.

Initially, there were four Chiang Muan villagers found deceased and one was still missing. The other two Dok Khamtai villagers were found alive on a mountain.

Mr. Navin Suthammeng, District Secretary of Dok Khamtai District, publicly stated that from 1:30 AM to 3:00 AM, there were heavy rains all night that caused the flash flood that destroyed the Dok Khamtai-Chiang Muan bridge. The flash flood disconnected the community and claimed four lives.

In the present, relevant officials proceeded to clear bamboo clumps and debris stuck under the bridge and fill the path with soil to allow temporary traffic. A rescue team was reportedly looking for another missing person as of press time.
