At 3:00 AM, on October 15th, 2023, the Phayao local media reported heavy rains caused a flash flood destroying a bridge and local vehicles with seven villagers missing in Dok Khamtai and Chiang Muan districts, Phayao.

Initially, there were four Chiang Muan villagers found deceased and one was still missing. The other two Dok Khamtai villagers were found alive on a mountain.
