Ayutthaya Officials Crack Down on Illegal Migrant Workers

Ayutthaya officials provided Thai media an update on illegal migrants in Uthai, with law enforcement capturing 347 illegal workers without passports and work permits.

Recently, on October 12th, 2023, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya officials launched an investigation on a migrant worker camp where they live with over 1,000 workers causing trouble to Uthai locals.

On October 16th, 2023, the Thai Department of Employment publicly revealed to Thai media the update for illegal migrants without documentation and work permits in Uthai. The Ayutthaya officials captured 347 illegal workers including 69 Myanmar nationals and 278 Cambodians.


As a result of the investigation, the illegal migrants reportedly confessed that they illegally entered across the border of Thailand through natural channels. They were charged with staying in the Kingdom without permission as a foreigner.

However, relevant officials pledged to further investigate employers who hired illegal migrants without work permits or documentation.
