Loei—

On October 19th, 2023, the Anti Trafficking In Person Division (ATPD) team was dispatched to capture two alleged human traffickers at a karaoke shop in Tha Li, Loei.

The alleged couple, the owners of the shop, were later publicly identified only as Mr. Prayat, 47-years-old and Mrs. Keng, 41-years-old and face charges of human trafficking, arranging prostitution, and other charges.

The police officers had investigated the karaoke shop and discovered an arrangement of prostitution to entertain customers. However, more than 10 illegal sex workers were underage and held Laos nationality. The officers then aided three underaged victims reportedly forced to work at the karaoke shop.

The alleged shop owners reportedly confessed to the police officers that they used the karaoke shop as a facade and secretly provided prostitution to customers in a room behind the shop for 1,500-2,000 baht.
The investigative officers pledged to conduct further legal proceedings and to hold the suspects accountable for their crimes.
