Prime Minister Addresses Parliament on Combating Online Gambling, Scams

The Prime Minister has responded to questions in a parliamentary session regarding the government’s measures to combat online gambling and fraudulent call centers.

Prime Minister and Finance Minister Srettha Thavisin stated that he will consult with the Royal Thai Police for decisive action this week, including the arrest of law violators overseas. Existing solutions like the Anti-Online Crime Center (AOC) were also mentioned for comprehensive cooperation.

The comment was made when the issues of online gambling and fraudulent call centers were raised during a recent parliamentary session.

In a follow-up, Prasert Jantararuangtong, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, clarified concerns regarding the ineffectiveness in regulating “illegal gambling accounts,” stating that while these accounts are continuously being created, continuous efforts are also in place to shut them down.
