Major Drug Bust of 2.5 Million Amphetamine Pills in Khon Kaen

On November 6th, 2023, Thai highway police officers captured an alleged drug smuggler and confiscated over 2.5 million amphetamine pills on Highway Road 224, Manchakhiri, Khon Kaen.

According to the police report, an anonymous source reported to police about transnational drug smuggling allegedly taking place from Laos to Central Thailand via a sedan. The highway police officers then tracked down the suspected vehicle and asked to inspect the alleged suspect’s vehicle who was later identified as Mr. Thanatchai Chwangpho, 31.

Thanatchai reportedly confessed his wrongdoings and stated to law enforcement that he was hired for 50,000 baht, for the first time, to pick up the sedan and transport the illicit substances from Bung Kla, Bueng Kan to Saraburi.

Initially, inquiry officers took Thanatchai into custody for legal proceedings and pledged to investigate other involved individuals further to hold them accountable for their crimes.
