Rawai –

The DSI raided two luxury villas in Rawai after a suspect was found allegedly being involved in a major illegal online gambling website.

The Department of Special Investigations (DSI) based in Bangkok reported on Wednesday (November 22nd) that in the late afternoon they raided two luxury villas on a road along the Naiharn Beach – Saen Bay in Rawai, Mueang Phuket district covering an area worth more than two billion baht.

Officials found only house keepers and staffers at the home. The raid followed a search warrant requested by the DSI issued by the Phuket Provincial Court.

The villas are related to a suspect identified only as Mr. Pakpoom or Dee Dee, 29. He is allegedly involved in the website and is allegedly the top executive of the website.

The website in question is one of the top three major illegal online gambling websites in Thailand which is connected with many other illegal online gambling websites and networks, some of which have been shut down, say Thai authorities.

Mr. Pakpoom was arrested at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport on November 4th of this month. He is being accused of providing illegal online gambling services and money laundering. He has denied all the charges as of press time.
