American Tourist in Phuket Dies after Snorkeling in Phang Nga

Phuket –

An American tourist in Phuket has been pronounced dead after snorkeling at an island in Phang Nga.

The Phuket Marine Police told the Phuket Express that on Wednesday (November 22nd), they were notified from a tour boat operator that an American man went on a speedboat ride for snorkeling at the Khai Island (Egg Island) in the Koh Yao district near Phuket with his daughter.

He nearly drowned before he was rescued from the water by Good Samaritans on the speedboat. He was rushed to a hospital in Phuket while he was being provided CPR but tragically later was pronounced dead in a hospital emergency room. An unidentified tour guide told police that the man also had personal health problems which complicated the CPR process.

The man arrived in Phuket on November 18th, 2023 from Hong Kong. His name was withheld as authorities still had to contact some relatives of the victim to inform them about the tragic event.
