On November 29th, 2023, Mr. Phonkrit Puangwalaisin, the Hua Hin District Chief, publicly revealed the details about a recent fire incident at the Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan. It was reported that the total damages exceeded 110 million baht.

Before the fire incident, the university had held a Father’s Day ceremony, luckily, the students managed to vacate the building premises and were unharmed.

According to a report by witnesses, Ms. Orawan Chaemjamrat and Ms. Naiyana Saichampa, janitors, stated to Thai reporters that they heard a loud blast sound coming from LCD monitors in an auditorium on the second floor of the building before sparks fell and hit the carpet, causing a fire to quickly ignite.

The janitors reportedly tried to shout for help and extinguish the fires by themselves but they could not make it in time, said Thai reporters.

The firefighter squad was reportedly able to control the flames after 2 hours. Initially, forensics and Public Works officials would further investigate the incident scene to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
