Thirty-nine French tourists, a tour guide, and a driver all survived a scary situation with no injuries after a tour bus caught fire in Kanchanaburi, in the west of Thailand, over this past weekend.
On Friday (December 1st) in the Sai Yok district, an unidentified sedan driver behind the tour bus saw smoke and fire coming from the back of the bus while it was driving down a hill.
The sedan driver successfully managed to overtake the bus to warn the driver and the driver, who wasn’t identified by the police, stopped the bus. The sedan driver told the tour guide about the fire and asked the 39 French tourists to get out of the bus. Luckily, nobody was injured.
Firefighters were called to the scene and a fire extinguisher on the bus was used to put out the flames, which took about ten minutes. The cause of the fire is believed to have started from the rear of the vehicle.
The tour guide on the bus, who asked the press for their name to be withheld, said the tour group was traveling from Bangkok. After a trip to Ayutthaya, the tour group was heading to Kanchanaburi and to a restaurant in the Lumsum sub-district.
All 39 French tourists and the tour guide were taken to the restaurant by another vehicle from the Sai Yok District Office and managed to continue their holiday, shaken up but not hurt.
