Thai Clean Air Advocate Doctor Succumbs to Cancer at 29

PRESS RELEASE:

Dr Krittai Tanasombatkul, a 29-year-old social media sensation physician from Chiang Mai province, passed away on Tuesday (Dec 5) after battling lung cancer. His father announced his passing on social media, accompanied by Krittai’s signature hashtag “Su-Di-Wa” (don’t give up).

A graduate of Chiang Mai University, Dr Krittai specialized in family medicine and had interests in clinical epidemiology and clinical statistics. Diagnosed with lung cancer in late 2022, his condition was linked to Chiang Mai’s severe smog, despite his healthy lifestyle.

Krittai shared his journey through social media and his best-selling book “Su-Di-Wa.”, hoping to return to teaching and was also drawn to spirituality and psychology. In October, his health deteriorated, leading to his marriage to his girlfriend.

Using his experience, Dr Krittai advocated for action against air pollution in Thailand, emphasizing the need for clean air for future generations. His passing has triggered an outpouring of condolences and renewed calls for measures to improve air quality and efforts towards environmental health in Thailand.
