A prisoner who escaped from Banglamung Hospital in Pattaya during his genital surgery was arrested this morning by relevant police. The suspect was found hiding on the hospital’s roof, according to reports.

First, our previous story:

A prisoner escaped from Banglamung Hospital on December 9th allegedly with the help of his wife.

Now for our update:

Officials from the Department of Corrections of the Pattaya Remand Prison successfully apprehended escaped prisoner Mr. Thanaphat “Tor” Mayod within the grounds of Banglamung Hospital today, December 10th, at around 7:00 AM.

Mr. Thanaphat was found to have fled from Banglamung Hospital yesterday during a surgery to treat a genital infection. However, after a thorough search around the area involving throngs of police officers and prison staff, it was believed that Mr. Thanaphat was still hiding on the hospital’s ground since he had recently undergone surgery and a urinary catheter was still attached to his genitals.

As a result, officials began searching the hospital and ultimately discovered Mr. Thanaphat hiding on the roof of the single-story Sukjai building which houses the hospital’s psychiatric department.

Mr. Thanaphat was in a disoriented state and remained wearing restraints from his surgery. Correctional officers swiftly secured him and took him to the hospital’s emergency room to receive initial medical care to treat his recent surgery and deal with the urinary catheter.

The Sukjai building is located only 20 meters away from the main building.

According to Pattaya police, Mr. Thanaphat, 37, had one year and 10 months left to serve for a theft conviction. He is expected to serve additional time due to his escape.
