Thai Immigration Apprehends Cambodian Suspect for Discharging Firearm at Soccer Field in Pathum Thani

Pathum Thani—

At 4:00 PM, on December 11th, 2023, Thai immigration officers captured a Cambodian suspect who allegedly discharged a firearm in the soccer field in Lam Luk Ka, Pathum Thani.

The suspect was later publicly identified only as Mr. Duang, a Cambodian, who allegedly caused a commotion.

According to a report by Khu Khot police officers, Mr. Pramet, a 19-year-old witness whose last name was withheld, stated that during a soccer match between Cambodian workers, Duang, the suspect, had previous quarrels with one of the soccer players.

Duang reportedly went to the soccer field by a motorbike and shot four rounds of bullets into the sky and the roadside, causing commotion to the crowds, said Pramet. Luckily, the suspect did not aim at the crowds, so nobody got hurt, added Pramet.

During the police investigation, Duang reportedly confessed his wrongdoings; after he committed the crime, he threw away the firearm and fled to Chanthaburi to try to cross the border to Cambodia.

However, Chanthaburi immigration officers captured Duang before escorting him to Pathum Thani immigration officers for further interrogation to find his motive and his possible accomplice.
