Thailand Announces 30 Day Visa Exemption for Japanese Business Travelers

On December 12th, 2023, Mr. Karom Phonphonklang, the Thai Deputy Government Spokesperson, publicly revealed a conclusion after the cabinet meeting regarding a 30-day visa exemption for business purposes for Japanese visitors effective from January 1st of 2024 to December 31st of 2026.

The visa exemption for business purposes will be for the mutual benefit of developing economic and foreign cooperation with Japan, especially in promoting trade, investment, and business operations.
Karom publicly stated the special case of visa exemption would further stimulate the overall economic picture in Thailand and Japanese investors would travel to Thailand more conveniently for business purposes.

Japan has potential in various industries that the Thai government aims to promote including green industries, electric vehicles, medical fields, digital economies, and other industries, concluded Karom.
