Thai Authorities Raid Suspected Chinese-Owned Warehouses in Samut Sakhon, Confiscate Massive Substandard Products

Samut Sakhon—

On December 20th, 2023, Thai special investigative officers and relevant agencies launched a raid operation on three warehouses allegedly owned by Chinese people in Mueang Samut Sakhon, Samut Sakhon, according to a criminal warrant from the Samut Sakhon Provincial Court.

According to a report by the police officers, the three suspected warehouses stored massive substandard products such as electrical appliances and other miscellaneous products. The products would further be sold on famous online platforms, said the police.

The police officers confiscated the substandard products for further investigation and the officials were requesting documentation from the warehouses’ owners on the purchasing and importing process of the products.

Meanwhile, the employees who worked at the warehouses reportedly said to the police that they only packed the products for delivery and had never seen the owners of the warehouses. The police officers then escorted the employees for further investigation and discovered that some of them were foreign workers with no work permits.

However, the Thai customs officers would investigate to determine whether the products were imported to Thailand legally or not. If there was no valid documentation shown to the customs officers, the police would take legal proceedings against the owners, who had still not been identified as of press time.
