On December 26th, 2023, Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, the Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports, officially welcomed Chinese national mass media and influencers to the Amazing Festive & Exclusive Trip in Thailand.
More than 93 Chinese individual influencers reportedly participated in the Amazing Festive & Exclusive Trip from December 21st to the 28th to produce media and publicize tourism in Thailand to Chinese media. The trips would take place in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Chanthaburi, Phang Nga, and Trat.
The Amazing Festive & Exclusive Trip was to present a positive tourism image of Thailand and build confidence in foreign tourists through soft power and meaningful travel aspects during the New Year holiday and throughout 2024.
Sudawan publicly revealed that the Chinese market had potential and significant impacts on economic values in Thailand. According to a statistic from January 1st to December 20th of 2023, more than 3,352,812 Chinese tourists visited Thailand and it was expected to have over 3.5 million Chinese visitors by the end of 2023.
The Thai government seeks to stimulate and support the quality and universal standard of travel in Thailand by enhancing safety in all aspects of the tourists. It was to show the potential of tourism and promote Thailand as a popular travel destination worldwide, said Sudawan.
