515 Drunk Driving Cases on First Day of Thailand New Year Seven Days Road Safety Campaign

The Thai Department of Probation reported in total 515 cases of drunk driving in Thailand on the first day (December 29th) of the New Year Seven Days Road Safety campaign (December 29th, 2023 – January 4th, 2024).

The number of the drunk driving cases are 95.02 percent of other cases in the probation campaign, being the overwhelming majority of cases.

The top three provinces with the highest number of drunk-driving cases are Samut Prakan with 78 cases, followed by Bangkok with 69 cases, and Nonthaburi with 53 cases.

When comparing the number of cases on the first day of the campaign last year, it was found that the number of offenders who were placed on probation were 214. This year is 301 people, which has increased 58 percent from the last year of the campaign.
