Read about the latest news on the incident of two tourists sunbathing in the old temple area in Chiang Mai and Sanam Luang, Bangkok.

Thai reporters revealed that the two tourists were 19-year-old and 20-year-old Polish tourists, whose names were withheld by the media, who reportedly expressed their regret for the incident and said that they did not understand Thai culture and tradition.

They did not purposely cause inappropriateness in the religious area and to Chiang Mai locals. They also promised to follow instructions regarding “Do & Don’t” guidelines and thanked the tourist police, said Thai reporters.

However, Chiang Mai tourist police would enact information signs for foreign tourists in special attraction locations, especially religious and royal places, in multiple languages. They would also work with transportation companies and tour companies to educate tourists on what is appropriate and what isn’t.
