Honest Taxi Driver Returns 100,000 Baht Lost by Mongolian Passenger in Bangkok

On January 16th, 2024, FM91 Trafficpro of Chatuchak Police Communications Division, Royal Thai Police, witnessed the goodness-of-a-kind taxi driver returning lost money of a total of 100,000 baht to a Mongolian passenger in Bangkok.

Mr. Sommai Prachumkhun, a 48-year-old taxi driver, said to FM91 that he picked up a passenger from a hospital in the Sukhumvit area to bring to a hotel in the Siam area, Bangkok at 8:15 PM, on January 15th. He later found a lost wallet left in the back seat of his taxi after dropping the passenger off, reported FM91.

The wallet contained documentation of Mrs. Oyuntsetseg Durvuljin, the owner of the wallet, and cash in Thai baht and US dollars with a total of 119,834 baht, said FM91.

“He had never found a huge sum of money like this case in over 10 years of his career. After finding the lost wallet, he reported to FM91 that he wished the owner to get the money back. He also liked to listen to FM91 radio while driving,” Sommai said to FM91.

Oyuntsetseg, the owner of the wallet, was pleased to get her wallet back. She also said that she had been annually visiting Bangkok since 2006 for medical treatment and loved Thailand very much.

Sommai, the taxi driver, received a present of 500 US dollars from Oyuntsetseg for his good merit.
