One Person Dead after Train Collides with Trailer Truck in Nakhon Sawan

Nakhon Sawan –

A train driver has been pronounced dead at the scene after a train coming from Bangkok – Chiang Mai collided with a trailer truck in the Chum Saeng district.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident on Friday night (January 19th) at 7:34 P.M. near the Chum Saeng Railway Station in the Phan Lan sub-district.

They arrived at the scene to find the damaged train and the overturned truck which was carrying a backhoe at the Khlong Samphrueng railway barrier.

Sawang Chum Saeng Rescue Teams reported that the train driver, Mr. Pradit Promma, was found dead at his driver’s seat. Six other people had sustained injuries including the unidentified truck driver.

The train blocked the railway temporarily in which many northern rail routes were suspended but returned to normal by late Saturday morning (January 20th). The cause of the accident is still being investigated by the Chum Saeng Police as of press time.
