Prime Suspect in Large Illegal Pork Importing Case Arrested in Bangkok

At 1:50 PM, on January 22nd, 2024, Thai Immigration and Special Investigative officers captured a suspect at Don Mueang Airport who was allegedly involved in illegal pork importing of 10,000 containers from 2020 to 2023.

The suspect, publicly identified as Mr. Li Shengjiao, was later escorted to the Thai Department of Special Investigation (DSI) for legal processing and interrogation, according to the Thai police.
However, the Director General of the DSI granted 200,000 baht bail to the suspect and forbade him from leaving the country.

According to DSI, there were five arrest warrants issued including for Li for alleged offenses under the Customs Act of 2017, Animal Epidemics Act of 2015, and money laundering. It was reported that three of the suspects surrendered.


Furthermore, the DSI team responsible for crimes regarding importing animal carcasses into Thailand illegally held a meeting at 7:00 PM, on January 23rd, at the DSI offices.
