Bangkok—
At 8:30 AM, on January 23rd, 2024, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, the Governor of Bangkok, and Dr. Angela Macdonald PSM, the Australian Ambassador to Thailand, participated in an ongoing project of planting over a million trees, creating a green wall to filter dust across the city as part of a celebration to mark the upcoming Australia Day in Chaloem Phrakiat Park, Sathorn, Bangkok.
In various areas across Bangkok, there were Horse bushes, Australian Ivy Palms, Sonneratia Mangroves, and Guaiacwoods planted according to suitability for the area. Guaiacwood is a symbol of cooperation between Bangkok and the Embassy of Australia in Thailand.
Furthermore, the Embassy of Australia in Thailand recently donated 1,000 Perennial seedlings to Bangkok as support for the ongoing planting of over a million trees, creating a green wall to filter dust across the city campaign. The trees would be registered and could be tracked with their growth process recorded on tree.bangkok.go.th.
As of 10:00 AM, on January 24th, 2024, more than 785,207 trees were planted out of the goal of 1,641,310.
