One Person Dies, 32 People Injured after Bus Crash in Phitsanulok

One person died while 32 people have been injured after a passenger bus collided with a trailer truck in the Muang Phitsanulok district.

Emergency responders were notified of the accident near a petrol station on the Phitsanulok – Uttaradit Road in the Don Thong sub-district after midnight (January 29th).

The first responders arrived at the scene to find the damaged bus and the trailer truck on the road. There were in total 33 people inside the bus. One of them was found dead on the front left seat which was a bus crew member, Ms. Pitchaphon Chaisri. Seven other people were taken to a nearby hospital with various injuries. The remaining passengers suffered only minor injuries and did not need medical treatment.

The bus driver, identified only as Mr. Booncherd, told Thai media that they were traveling from Phrae (northern Thailand) and heading to Bangkok. When they arrived at the scene of the accident, the trailer truck which was driving in the left lane allegedly immediately changed to the right lane before the crash.

The Phitsanulok City Police are continuing their investigation to find the exact cause of the accident.
