Swiss Man Confesses to Wife’s Killing But Claims Was Accidental; Police Probe Mysterious Disappearance in Nakhon Ratchasima

Nakhon Ratchasima—

On January 29th, 2024, a Swiss husband reported himself to the Khonburi police station in Khon Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima, to request his passport that the police had previously confiscated. The police instead further interrogated him regarding his wife who disappeared mysteriously on January 8th, 2024.

According to a report by the police, Ms. Orathai, the wife of a Swiss man whose name was publicly revealed only as Mr. Roland, mysteriously went missing on January 8th.

The police performed an investigation on Orathai’s missing case and it was reported that she previously lost her former Swiss husband in 2021 and was left with inheritance money of about 13 million baht. Orathai reportedly moved back to Thailand and lived with Roland for two years in Khon Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima.

However, Roland allegedly quarreled with Orathai before she went missing, according to the police.

The police officers interrogated Roland for more than five hours until he reportedly confessed that he had a heated argument with Orathai and allegedly strangled her to death but claimed it was unintentional. Roland then allegedly transported the body to a corn field at Khok Kruat-Don Khang Road, Khon Buri, to dispose of the body, according to the police.

Initially, the police officially took Roland into custody and performed an investigation to determine the motive behind the incident and to search for the body.
