Bangkok—
On February 28th, 2024, Thai Metropolitan Investigation officers captured a suspect at a condominium in Bang Sue, Bangkok, who allegedly committed sexual assault acts on a minor under 13 years old in 2023.
According to the police report, the suspect, publicly identified only as Mr. Wisanu, 40, allegedly had a habit of stalking minors in school uniforms. Previously, Wisanu committed sexual assault acts to minors on at least four victims and suspected others who did not report to the police as Wisanu allegedly threatened and blackmailed the victims.
Wisanu was jailed for the first time on September 7th, 2018, as previously he committed sexual assault acts against minors in two cases, according to the police. After his release, he committed sexual assault acts repetitively, holding a long criminal record for sexual assault crimes.
Upon police investigation before the recent arrest of Wisanu, the suspect had a habit of stalking students who walked back home alone and forced his way to commit the crimes. Wisanu worked as a freelance driver and spent his free time stalking the victims, according to the police.
The police requested a search warrant from the criminal court after tracking down the suspect’s residence at a condominium owned by the suspect’s alleged adult girlfriend in Bang Sue, Bangkok.
Initially, Wisanu denied the allegations and reportedly confessed that he fancied minors and that all the victims consented. The police then escorted the suspect to Thung Maha Mek police station for further legal processing, while noting that a minor cannot legally give consent and that Wisanu’s claims that they did wouldn’t hold up in a court of law.
