On 13 March 2024, the Tourism Authority of Thailand joined hands with the Indian Association of Thailand for a networking event and gala dinner to highlight the upcoming Holi Festival in Thailand, scheduled to take place between 22-24 March 2024 in Bangkok and Pattaya.
It was a pleasure for me to attend the event along with Mr. Kitti Chaondee, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Surayut Thaweekulwat, Advisor to the Prime Minister, Mr. Supoj Wongjarasawee, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Sports. Mr. Kankanit Haewsanti, Advisor to the Minister of Culture, Mr. Dharmendra Singh, First Secretary (Economic and Commercial), Embassy of India Bangkok, Ms. Yaowalak Pimphanit, Director of the Office of Culture and Tourism Bangkok City Governorate and Mr. Worapot Phongphali, Advisor to the Mayor of Pattaya City along with many other distinguished guests and media representatives.
The dinner was preceded in the afternoon with a B2B Business Matching activity between Thailand-based travel agencies/DMCs and Thai tourism operators providing services to the Indian market, such as hotels, airlines, entertainment, etc. That was attended by more than 120 travel trade personnel.
The Holi Festival will help attract at least 10,000 visitors from India to celebrate the event. It is a part of the Thai Government’s “Soft Power” policy to use culture and heritage as a platform to create meaningful experiences.
Incidentally, India is the fifth largest tourist market for international tourists traveling to Thailand worldwide. From 1 January – 12 March 2024, Thailand welcomed 373,910 Indian visitors. Thanks to the visa-free policy approved by the government of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, we are targetting 2.5 million Indian visitors in 2024.
