On March 23rd, 2024, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, the acting commissioner general of the Royal Thai Police, performed a field inspection to monitor the unsettling situation in southern provinces closely.
Pol. Gen. Kittirat issued an order to relevant agencies to expedite the case in order to track down the suspects in Yala in 12 different locations.
According to Yala local media, the officers were conducting investigations on escape routes and thoroughly gathered evidence from the crime scenes to hold involved individuals accountable for their crimes.
However, the groups of suspects had comprehensive plans and were well-prepared. More than 100 individuals reportedly simultaneously scattered and fled after arson attacks in three provinces, according to local media.
One CCTV footage presented to Thai media appeared to show a group of six to seven armed individuals in black uniforms infiltrating a construction material shop and setting fire to the shop and vehicles in Mueang Yala, Yala.
