On April 4th, 2024, Pol. Lt. Gen. Sarayut Sa-nguanphokai, the Commander of Provincial Police Region 4, and relevant officers held a press conference on the “No Place for Drugs” operation to eradicate drug trafficking in northeast Thailand.
The No Place for Drugs Operation aimed to suppress local drug dealers and drug networks in 87 locations with proactive operation from 19 police stations. The police were issued to investigate, track down, and arrest wanted criminals and local drug dealers.
As a result, the Provincial Police Region 4 officers captured more than 22,387 individuals from 22,287 cases, and seized 17 million amphetamine pills, 59 kilograms of heroin, and 6.8 kilograms of methamphetamine, from October 1st, 2023, to March 31st, 2024. The total value of illicit substances and assets was estimated at 339 million baht.
According to Pol. Lt. Gen. Sarayut, the No Place for Drugs Operation was to eradicate illicit substances along the Thai border and reported areas per orders by Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, the acting commissioner general of the Royal Thai Police.
The relevant agencies under the supervision of the Provincial Police Region 4 would increase the intensity of tackling drug trafficking in the area, stated Pol. Lt. Gen. Sarayut.
