Chinese Man Arrested for Robbing 215,500 Baht from Fellow Chinese National in Bangkok

At 2:30 PM, on April 9th, 2024, Wang Thonglang police officers arrested a Chinese man at a hotel in Huai Khwang, Bangkok, who allegedly committed a robbery of 215,500 baht from a Chinese victim.

According to the police report, on the late night of April 8th, a Chinese victim, publicly identified only as Ms. Xin, 27, filed a report to Wang Thonglang police officers that while she was at her residence in Wang Thonglang, Bangkok, a Chinese suspect, publicly identified only as Mr. Maio, 27, allegedly climbed a wall into her residence and threatened her with a sharp object.

The suspect allegedly forced the victim to transfer 215,500 baht via mobile banking to the suspect’s bank account. After the suspect received the money, he then reportedly fled right away, according to the police.

The Wang Thonglang investigative police officers then inspected the crime scene after receiving the report from the victim and were able to capture the suspect at a hotel in Huai Khwang the day after.

Upon the police interrogation, Maio, the suspect, reportedly confessed his wrongdoing to the police and cited that he needed the money to spend on Songkran holidays. Initially, the investigative police escorted Maio to Wang Thonglang police station for further legal processing.

The police did not reveal if there was any relationship or connection between the victim and the suspect, noted TPN.
