13 Teen Motorcyclists Arrested for Causing Annoyance at Songkran Event on Khao San Road

Bangkok—

At 11:00 PM, on April 12th, 2024, Chana Songkhram police officers performed a traffic control inspection at the Songkran event on Khao San road, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok, and captured 13 motorcyclists who allegedly gathered and caused annoyance to tourists.

According to the police report, many tourists participated in the Songkran event on Khao San road to play in the water fights. While Chana Songkhram patrol police officers performed their duty in the area, a group of teenagers gathered together and allegedly caused sound pollution by revving their motorbikes.

The police officers on duty then captured 13 individuals including minors who allegedly annoyed the tourists. The locals and tourists on Khao San road reportedly cheered the police while arresting the suspects.

Initially, the 13 suspects were escorted to the Chana Songkhram police station for driving without consideration for road safety and causing annoyance to others according to the Traffic Act.

Moreover, some of them were taken into custody for DUIs before their cases would be forwarded to the Taling Chan District Court for further legal processing.

At midnight, the Chana Songkhram police and Phra Nakhon District Office announced the formal end of the water play and helped disperse crowds.
