Pattani—
At 4:00 PM, on May 1st, 2024, the Pattani Joint Special Operations Unit and relevant agencies launched a raid operation on two suspects in Thung Yang Daeng, Pattani.
According to the officer’s report, unidentified locals reported that a group of suspicious people were hiding at a rental house in the Thung Yang Daeng area. Three special units were requested to inspect and enforce the laws against the suspects.
The officers evacuated locals and had a local leader and religious leader negotiate with the suspects to surrender. However, it was not successful.
At 6:00 PM, the intense situation escalated into a confrontation between the suspects and the special officers as the suspects allegedly initiated the shooting.
After the situation settled down, the officers inspected the rental house and found two bodies of the suspects, publicly identified only as Mr. Masobri and Mr. Ashar. Two assault rifles and two pistols were also found.
It was reported that one officer was injured. The forensic officers investigated further and collected evidence at the crime scene.
