Burmese Man Arrested for Running All-You-Can-Drink Kratom Juice Business in Samut Sakhon

Samut Sakhon —

On June 27th, 2024, Mueang Samut Sakhon police, along with relevant agencies, inspected an abandoned shrimp warehouse following reports of a Burmese individual providing all-you-can-drink kratom juice to fellow countrymen.

According to officers, locals had filed a complaint about a group of immigrant workers allegedly gathering at the warehouse for kratom juice provided by a Burmese individual. The establishment reportedly advertised the kratom juice with signs promoting a drink buffet.

In response, officers launched a search operation at the warehouse in Mueang, Samut Sakhon. They discovered numerous immigrant workers gathered at the location, engaged in revelry. Additionally, they found kitchenware used to brew kratom juice and related ingredients, including various types of cough syrups.

The store owner, Mr. Ken Ma So, 38, reportedly admitted to providing kratom juice to his fellow countrymen for some time, stating that the business had been thriving and generating significant revenue before his arrest.

The police escorted the suspect to the Mueang Samut Sakhon police station for further legal proceedings.

Although Kratom has been decriminalized in Thailand since 2022, selling it, especially mixed into a liquid form, requires proper licensing from the Thai Food and Drug Administration.
