The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) this morning, January 6th, announced 250 domestic infections and one death among a total of 365 infected patients in the past 24 hours.
The 66th local death was a 63-year-old Thai man, originally from Ayutthaya, who was working as a driver for migrant workers in the Samut Sakhon area. He was reportedly suffering from an underlying disease of high blood pressure.
The man visited a local hospital in Samut Sakhon on December 27th, 2020, after reportedly having a high fever, cough, and runny nose. His result proved positive for the Covid-19 Coronavirus and he was isolated at the hospital since. However, his condition was worsening with kidney failure on December 31st before he was pronounced dead with respiratory failure on January 5, 2021.
Regarding the domestic cases, a number of 215 confirmed cases are found in Chonburi (65), Samut Prakarn (34), Bangkok (28), Chantaburi (28), Samut Sakhon (20), Ratchaburi (5), Rayong (4), Pathum Thani (3), Lob Buri (3), Ayutthaya (2), Kanchanaburi (2), Nakhon Pathom (2), Nonthaburi (2), Phichit (2), Chachoengsao (2), Nakhon Ratchasima (2), Surin (2), Samut Songkram (2), Surat Thani (2), and Chiang Mai (1).
35 more patients in Samut Prakan (10), Rayong (10), Chonburi (6), Bangkok (5), Samut Songkram (1), Ratchaburi (1), Trat (1), and Pathum Thani (1) are being under disease investigation.
According to CCSA spokesman Taweesilp Visanuyothin, 68 percent of the recently-found infected patients are asymptomatic and 32 percent of them are reportedly having suspicious symptoms of high fever, runny nose, coughing, and panting.
