Thailand reported 2,001 domestic infections among a total of 2,012 new, confirmed Covid-19 cases with 15 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, CCSA assistant spokesperson Apisamai Srirangsan announced this morning, April 28th.
The fatalities were 11 men and 4 women from Bangkok (9), Chiang Mai (2), Samut Prakan (2), Chonburi (1), and Ranong (1). All of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, hyperlipidemia, chronic lung disease, asthma, chronic liver disease, thyrotoxicosis, obesity, and Alzheimer’s.
Regarding domestic infections, the first group of 830 local infections was discovered in Bangkok. 30 of them were reportedly connected to entertainment venues, 32 were from community markets and villages, 219 were from being in close contact with confirmed infected patients, and the other 549 infections were connected to other risky places.
The second group includes 386 cases that were reported in Bangkok’s vicinity. Seven of them were reportedly connected to entertainment venues, eight were from community markets and villages, 268 were from being close contact with confirmed infected patients, and the other 103 cases were connected to other risky places.
The last group includes 785 domestic infections that were found in other provinces. 18 of them were connected to entertainment venues, 40 were from community markets and villages, 538 were from being close contact with confirmed infected patients, and 189 of them were connected to other risky places. The majority of the group was discovered in Samut Prakan with 161, followed by Chonburi with 108, Nonthaburi with 70, and Samut Sakhon Mai with 59.
As of today, 851 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 61,699 cases with 34,402 recoveries and a total of 178 deaths since the start of the pandemic. About 26,572 people received their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccination and another 26,109 people received their second shot yesterday, marking a total number of 1,279,713 vaccinated people in Thailand who have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
