Thailand discovered a total of 11,305 daily Covid-19 infections with 80 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, July 20th.
The fatalities were 37 men and 43 women from Bangkok (41), Pattani (6), Chonburi (5), Songkhla (3), Pathum Thani (2), Samut Prakan (2), Chachoengsao (2), Sa Kaeo (2), Ubon Ratchathani (2), Trang (1), Surat Thani (1), Prachinburi (1), Rayong (1), Trat (1), Kalasin (1), Nakhon Ratchasima (1), Chiang Rai (1), Kampangpetch (1), Suphanburi (1), and Ayutthaya (1). The age range was between 14 and 94 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, kidney disease, obesity, stroke, heart disease, and lung disease. Six of the fatalities did not reportedly have any health conditions.
Of the new cases, 8,599 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 2,097 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 595 were from prisons, and the remaining 14 were imported cases.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,764, followed by Samut Sakhon with 798, Samut Prakan with 673, Chonburi with 537, Pathum Thani with 485, and Nonthaburi with 386.
A total number of 248,648 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 217,419 people had received their first shot and 31,229 people had received their second shots.
As of today, 6,557 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 426,475 cases with 296,208 recoveries and a total of 3,502 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
This morning, Pfizer-Biotech representatives in Thailand has released a statement that the company had signed a trading agreement with the Ministry of Public Health and would allocate a total amount of 20 million doses to the Thai government for emergency use by the fourth quarter of this year.
However, details about the transaction are not disclosed, only the requirements, the rough delivery time, and the number of orders. An exact date in the fourth quarter for delivery was not given, nor were details on who would qualify for the doses.
