RECAP: Thailand reports 8,968 daily Covid-19 infections with 64 additional deaths today

Thailand discovered a total of 8,968 daily Covid-19 infections with 64 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, October 29th.

The fatalities were 35 men and 29 women with the most numbers recorded in Bangkok with 12. 63 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 1 and 101 years old.

Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (32), diabetes (24), hyperlipidemia (18), obesity (10), and kidney disease (6). One of the fatalities was a bedridden patient.

Of the new cases, 8,328 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 424 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 190 were from prisons, and the remaining 26 were imported cases.

A number of 99,301 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 2,222 patients are in critical condition including 515 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.23 percent of cases that are critical while 23.1 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.

Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest numbers of patients were reported in Bangkok with 802, followed by Songkhla with 595, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 498, Chiang Mai with 403, Pattani with 369, and Yala with 383. Meanwhile, Chonburi reported 382 daily infections today.

A total number of 879,556 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 420,551 people had received their first shots, 412,497 people had received their second shots, and 46,508 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 57.6% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 41.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 3.2% have had a third booster shot.

As of today, 8,747 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 1,893,941 cases with 1,775,570 recoveries and a total of 19,070 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
