Thailand discovered a total of 2,671 daily Covid-19 infections with 27 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, December 24th.
The fatalities were 13 men and 14 women with the most numbers recorded in Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 5. All of them were Thai nationals. The age range was between 50 and 94 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including hypertension (11), diabetes (10), hyperlipidemia (4), obesity (3), and kidney disease (5).
Of the new cases, 2,502 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 56 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 58 were from prisons, and the remaining 55 were imported cases.
A number of 38,192 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 836 patients are in critical condition including 218 on ventilators. This is roughly 2.18 percent of cases that are critical while 26 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 411, followed by Chonburi with 175, Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 144, Samut Prakan with 87, Songkhla with 85, and Khon Kaen with 73.
A total number of 530,244 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 93,423 people had received their first shots, 196,779 people had received their second shots, and 240,042 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 70.6% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 62.5% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 8.0% have had a third booster shot.
Thailand has found a total of 205 Omicron cases so far, according to the Public Health Ministry. Of that, 25 were domestic cases that were transmitted from imported infections. No single case was originated in the country, said Dr. Supakit Sirilak, the Director-General of the Department of Medical Sciences.
As of today, 2,766 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 2,204,672 cases with 2,144,952 recoveries and a total of 21,528 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
