Saraburi –
Seven were killed and more than 20 passengers were injured after a double-decker bus crashed into a foundation post of a bridge in the Muang district of Saraburi province yesterday, March 13th.
Police officials, medical staff, and rescuers arrived at the scene in front of a Robinson department store in the afternoon after being alerted of the road accident. The bus was believed to be heading from Roi Et to Bangkok when the accident occurred.
About 24 people were reportedly injured – 10 were serious (red), 7 were moderate (yellow), and 7 were slightly injured (green). They were rushed to various local hospitals for urgent treatment.
Six of them were reportedly killed at the scene and one additional passenger was pronounced dead later at the hospital.
Police suspect that the driver might have fallen asleep behind the wheel. However, the official investigation would continue to indicate the actual cause of the accident.
