Thailand announced 1,577 domestic infections among a total of 1,582 new Covid-19 Coronavirus daily cases in the past 24 hours, the Department of Disease Control announced this morning, April 16th.
The first group of 312 local infections was discovered in Bangkok. 73 of them were reportedly connected to entertainment venues, six were discovered in community places, and the other 233 infections were connected to other risky places.
The second group includes 202 cases that were reported in Bangkok’s vicinity. 51 of them were reportedly connected to entertainment venues, 11 were from community places, and the other 140 cases were connected to other risky places.
The last group includes 1,063 domestic infections that were found in other provinces. 312 of them were connected to entertainment venues, 45 were from community markets, and 706 of them were connected to other risky places. The majority of the group was discovered in Chiang Mai alone with 272 infections.
Additionally, Chonburi authorities announced 103 new confirmed cases of the Covid-19 Coronavirus this morning. Most of the infections were asymptomatic or had slight symptoms, according to authorities, and found via proactive testing of employees of entertainment venues in the area as well as contact tracing from previous patients.
As of today, 97 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 39,038 cases with 28,480 recoveries and a total of 97 deaths since the start of the pandemic. About 3,096 people received their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccination and another 1,928 people received their second shot yesterday, marking a total number of 586,032 vaccinated people in Thailand who have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
Meanwhile, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will hold a meeting today to discuss several health measures, including the National Communicable Disease Committee’s proposal of lifting the highest red-controlled areas in 18 high-risk provinces nationwide through the end of April. The decision is likely to be announced by 4:00 PM. today.
